CARDIOPULMONARY

Copper Queen Community Hospital’s Cardiopulmonary Services department is dedicated to improving your every breath by using state-of-the-art equipment. The Cardiopulmonary staff includes licensed and board-certified Respiratory Therapists to assist with both inpatient and outpatient needs. Some of the cardiopulmonary services include arterial blood gas sampling to determine lung efficiency, electrocardiography, and 24 hour in-home cardiac monitoring.

 

CQCH’s Cardiopulmonary department offers Pulmonary Function Testing to include Spirometry, Plethysmography and DLCO.

Pulmonary function tests (PFTs) are noninvasive tests that show how well the lungs are working. The tests measure lung volume, capacity, rates of flow, and gas exchange. This information can help your healthcare provider diagnose and decide the treatment of certain lung disorders.

Indications for testing

  • Hx of COVID-19

  • Chronic lung conditions

  • Evaluation of respiratory complaints

  • Pre-operative assessment

  • Evaluation of the effects of occupational or hazardous

  • exposures

  • History of Smoking

  • Allergies


Testing Available

  • Pulmonary Function Testing

    • Spirometry

    • Plethysmography

    • DLCO

  • Outpatient Arterial Blood Gas

  • Outpatient Electrocardiogram (ECG)


How to Order Testing

  • PFT Spirometry – This test is typically for asthmatic children

  • PFT Complete – This includes pre and post bronchodilator therapy studies including Spirometry, Plethysmography, and DLCO. These tests are used for diagnosing lung disorders and severity of disease

  • Add-On Testing with PFTs

    • ABG (indicate pre or post)

All test results are interpreted by a board-certified physician within 48 hours. All procedural requests must have a physician’s referral.
