24 Hour Emergency Services

CQCH’s Emergency Department is committed to providing the best possible care in the most efficient way possible. The Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the week, by physicians and nurses specially trained in emergency medicine. Emergency room care is supported by CQCH’s in-house, state of the art laboratory, radiology, and cardiopulmonary departments. Telemedicine technology enables specialists at University Medical Center in Tucson and the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale to collaborate with CQCH emergency physicians in the care and treatment of trauma and stroke.

A new Fast Track system is now in place to reduce the time patients have to wait for quality emergency care. All emergency patients are evaluated immediately on arrival. Those with less severe conditions, like sore throats, rashes, cuts and bruises, or abrasions, are seen by an Emergency Room physician in the new Fast Track area where they are treated as quickly as possible. This new system helps to reduce waiting times and keeps beds in the main emergency room available for immediate treatment of more critical patients.

Sleep Lab

An Estimated 70 Million People have a Sleep Disorder. – U.S. Institute of Health

There are several different kinds of sleep studies that we provide:

    Sleep Lab
  1. Diagnostic PSG -Typically at night, we measure EEG, EOG, EMG, EKG, SpO2, chest and abdominal respiratory effort, naso-oral breathing, body position and snoring during sleep. We require at least 6 hours of recording time. This is the primary test given for diagnosis of sleep disorders.
  2. Multiple Sleep Latency Test - During the day immediately following a night PSG, we measure EEG, EOG, Chin EMG, and EKG. The patient is given four to five naps spaced every two hours. This test is used to identify and characterize excessive sleepiness and to confirm a diagnosis of narcolepsy.
  3. Maintenance of Wakefulness Test - During the day immediately following a night PSG, we measure EEG, EOG, Chin EMG, and EKG and the patient is given four to five “naps” (the patient is told to stay awake) spaced every two hours. This test is used to evaluate the patient’s ability to remain awake in a sedentary environment. Very important test for bus drivers or other careers where ability to stay awake constitutes a public/personal safety issue.
