Copper Queen Community Hospital Offers New Urologic Treatment

Copper Queen Community Hospital recently purchased a Holmium YAG Laser, partially funded by a $20,000 memorial contribution from the Ted and Elizabeth Brooks family. This equipment will primarily serve patients suffering from urologic and kidney problems, and will offer a minimally invasive surgical procedure that has been shown to produce excellent results, shorter hospitals says, and less time away from work and regular activities. Patients suffer less discomfort and bleeding with the use of the laser as it can operate with delicate precision.

Dr. Anthony Nazaroff, Urologist, has been the first to use the new technology at Copper Queen Hospital. Dr. Nazaroff has been instrumental is recommending that the hospital purchase this versatile safe and effective device. Patients can be treated for tumors, strictures, and all types of stones. The laser technology can fragment or cut stones until they are able to removed, or small enough to be passed spontaneously.

Copper Queen Community Hospital’s surgery staff has been trained in the operating room protocols needed to assist the physician during these new procedures, so that the
entire team can function smoothly and the patient’s experience is optimized.

Having this new technology available locally will benefit patients who have, in the past, had to travel further to seek this level of care and expertise
